Workshop on Rapid Reconfiguration of Programmable Matter

The Workshop on Rapid Reconfiguration of Programmable Matter will be held in Helsinki, Finland as a satellite workshop of the Unconventional Computation and Natural Computation (UCNC 2021) new tab icon, 18–22 October 2021.

The workshop talks and discussion will be streamed live during the conference. If you would like to remotely attend the workshop, you can do so by registering for UCNC as a "Remote - non-speaker participant" for 35EUR here: https://link.webropolsurveys.com/EventParticipation/EventPublic/de675f76-a063-4870-af72-a042ca6a4dfb?displayId=Fin2319043

The goal of this workshop is to bring together experts from algorithms, robotics, and molecular self-assembly to discuss models and approaches for scalable, rapid reconfiguration solutions in programmable matter. Most approaches do not allow rapid reconfigurations, and those that do usually do not scale well, though we feel that for programmable matter to become useful in practice this issue urgently needs to be addressed. The workshop will consist of a series of invited talks and sessions for discussions among attendees, where we hope new ideas for rapid configuration will be developed and discussed, and new projects launched.
